NYLAG
- The
New York Legal Assistance Group
The
New York Legal Assistance Group is funded by the United Jewish Appeal
and provides a large range of free legal services to New Yorkers.
Here is a sample of their programs:
- NYLAG’s Public Benefits Unit primarily handles matters related to eligibility for a full range of federal and state public benefits that provide a critical lifeline for New Yorkers in need. Attorneys work to ensure that low-income families, children, the elderly, those with disabilities, veterans and other vulnerable populations have access to the public benefits they are entitled to, including public assistance, SNAP benefits, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income.
- Safety Net financial counseling provides comprehensive, free financial counseling and legal services.
- The Evelyn Frank Legal Resources Program (EFLRP) provides legal services to elderly clients each year, helping them navigate the complex systems that provide access to health care and home care, including long term care, and supplemental needs trusts.
